Gilchrist Center is our 34-bed inpatient facility in Towson, Maryland. The center’s dedicated staff provides expert care for terminally ill individuals in a homelike environment that is welcoming, supportive and comfortable for both patients and their loved ones.

As a general guideline, patients are admitted to Gilchrist Center when symptoms of their disease – pain, dementia, delirium, breathlessness, and other conditions – require more intensive medical interventions than can usually be provided at home.

Some special features of Gilchrist Center include:

• Quality, personalized care that addresses the unique and changing physical, spiritual and emotional needs of patients and families.

• Round-the-clock staffing by a full range of experienced, caring medical professionals including physicians as well as registered nurses and nursing assistants who specialize in hospice care.

• 34 private rooms.

• Accommodations for family members who wish to remain overnight.

• Many homelike features including a children’s play room, large great room, family kitchen and lounges, beautiful gardens and walkways and more.

Gilchrist Center opened in 1996, thanks to the generous gifts from philanthropist Jeanne Gilchrist Vance and the support of many other individuals, foundations and organizations throughout the greater Baltimore community.
